2014 Singapore Community Day, 21 September 2014 - Be there or be Square !
The Singapore Western Australia Network (SWAN) and Overseas Singaporean Unit (OSU), is organising the 2014 Singapore Community Day on Sunday, 21 September 2014. All Singaporeans and SWAN members are invited! The 2014 Singapore Community Day will be a fun-filled day for children and adults, with traditional and modern dances, singing performances, activities and games for the young and the young at heart, not forgetting delectable food (such as nasi lemak, chicken rice, fried curry puffs etc.) from our homeland. There will also be lucky draws and competitions throughout the day. Come down and enjoy yourselves. Catch up with your fellow Singaporeans and make new friends. You may be surprised to find that your long lost friends are living in Perth. Be one of the first 700 to register online. Your chance to Appear on ChannelNewsAsia
ChannelNewsAsia is producing an upcoming televised forum with PM Lee Hsien Loong. Called “Ask PM Lee”... The show is an opportunity for regular Singaporeans to pose questions to the PM. Through video clips by recording yourself asking your question, using your smartphone or webcam. You are welcome to submit a maximum of 3 different questions, with one video clip per question by Wednesday, 27 August. Questions should be short and sweet. If you're keen send your videos to: AskPMLee@mediacorp.com.sg. If you’re submitting multiple questions, please collate them into one single email. Alternatively, if you wish to ask a question but would rather not make a video of it, you can also email AskPMLee@mediacorp.com.sg OR tweet us using #askPMLee. Don’t forget to include your name, age, occupation, town/city of residence and phone number. Please note that not all questions submitted will be used in the show. The questions can be related to topics raised in National Day Rally, but you are welcome to pose questions on other issues as well. “Ask PM Lee” will be telecast on 4 September, 8pm on Channel NewsAsia.

Virtual careers fair for overseas Singaporeans, 23 April 2014
Contact Singapore is organising a virtual careers fair for overseas Singaporeans on 23 April and include live chat sessions 9am-1pm and 5pm-9pm (Perth/Sg time) so participants can chat with the employers. Employers involved include: Deutsche Bank, Singtel, Micron (electronics company), EDB and MOM. CaliberLink, a department set up by the Singapore Workforce Development Agency, will also be online to assist Singaporean professionals with career and training advice.   read more...

Contact Singapore has launched a mobile app, iContactSG,in conjunction with Singapore Day. It’s available on both Apple and Android. The mobile app allows Singaporeans and friends of Singapore alike to use it any time to monitor Singapore industry news and jobs.  
2013 F&N Singapore Film Festival Perth, 21 Sept 2013
To continue with the success of the Singapore Film Festival Perth in 2012 organised by the Singapore Western Australia Network (SWAN), the 2013 F&N Singapore Film Festival Perth will screen two comedies from Singapore on the 21st of September 2013 at the State Library of Western Australia. The first comedy is “Already Famous” by Michelle Chong, a feature film about a girl who dreams of becoming famous and her hilarious journey to reaching that dream. The second comedy is “Taxi! Taxi!”, a funny and true story about Taxi drivers in Singapore. In true Singapore hospitality, tickets for the 2013 F&N Singapore Film Festival will also include some lunch for attendees*.
