ENUGU WELCOMES NOLLYWOOD AND THE WORLD
The Nigerian film industry popularly known as Nollywood is eagerly looking forward to witnessing yet another great film event in the country come November 2007. In fact, the count down has started as Enugu metropolitan city is poised to host the film community both within and outside the country.
Enugu international film festival is tagged the biggest and largest film event east of the Niger. It will be the first time such major film event and gathering of huge film practitioners from all over the world holds in one single event and venue in that part of the country. It is a known fact that Enugu State is AFRICAN production hub when it comes to filming location and filmmaking and, has contributed and still contributes to the overall development of the Nigerian and indeed, African Motion Picture industry.
The festival is expected to host well over seven thousand guests in and around Nigeria, Africa and the World. Attendance will be made up of film practitioners, film and mass communication students, film lecturers, film critics, local and foreign journalists, cultural ambassadors, government dignitaries, corporate world, media houses, motion picture distributors, tourism and hospitality practitioners, and the general public. Among the expected film stars are: Aki and Paw Paw, Nkem Owoh, John Okafor, (Mr Ibu), Genevive Nnaji, Omotola Jalade Ekinde, Ramsey Noauh, Olu Jacobs (AMAA 2007 Best Actor), Kanayo O. Kanayo ( AMAA 2006, best Actor), Izu Ojukwu (AMAA 2007, Best Director), Mrs. Peace Anyiam Fiberesima (AMAA CEO), All the Presidents of the Nigerian Motion Picture industry etc. On the foreign scene are: Alima Qeadrageo from BURKINA FASO. (AMAA nominee for best Actress role, 2006), Charles Koutou from BURKINA FSAO (star actor in the Movie SOFIA), Bassek Bakobio from Cameroon,(star Actress), Michael Gyang from Ghana (Festival Director, Akawaba Int’l film festival, Ghana) etc.
High points in the film festival are: showcasing of a special documentary shot in Enugu State highlighting important and interesting historic and tourist locations, screening of language and ethnic films from all over the world, workshops, seminars, national screen script writing competition, training and pitching. There will also be a special motion picture content and broadcast market during the festival which will be managed by WORLD FILM FAIR.
So far, the organizers of Enugu international film festival have received well over one thousand film entries across the world in various categories and languages. For those who want to enter their film for competition can enter online while the physical film is sent by post to our office. Registration for attendance can also be done online.

The Enugu international film festival otherwise known as the international language film festival was established to further entrench an enduring structure in our film industry.
Furthermore, the Enugu international film festival was established to promote, expose and encourage Nigerian indigenous language films an films of other indigenous languages of other countries of the world such as Japanese language films, Chinese language films, French language films, Indian language films, German Language films, Swahili language films, Zulu language films, African language films, to name a few.
No doubt, Enugu State has very rich tourism destinations and culture, the Enugu international film festival was established to serve as a vehicle to promote and export our very rich culture and tourism potentials and destinations to the outside world.
The Enugu international film festival will further focus the attention of the world on Nigeria, which is a truly versatile and veritable film making nation, with a film culture that is reputed to be the third larges in the world, after Hollywood (U.S.A) and Bollywood (India).

LOCATION: Enugu State was created on August 27,1991. Its capital is Enugu (city on the mountain top) and was formerly known as Anambra North in the old Anambra State.
Enugu State is bound on the west by Anambra state an, Abia state on the south, Kogi State on the North while Ebonyi state and Benue states share boundaries with Enugu states on the East.
Enugu and Nsukka are its major towns. It was the capital of the former East central state (ECS) and eastern Nigeria.
LOCAL GOVERNMENT: Enugu is comprised of seventeen (17) Local government councils namely: Enugu south; Igbo Eze south; Enugu North; Nkanu; Udi; Awgu; Oji River; Ezeagu; Igbo Eze North; Isi Uzo; Nsukka; Igbo Etiti; Uzo Uwani; Enugu East; Ani nri; Nkanu East and Udenn.
EDUCATION: Apart from Primary and post primary schools, Enugu state has educational institutions such as Enugu state University; University of Nigeria, Nsukka and Enugu campuses; Institute Theological institute, Nsukka; college of Education, EHA-Amufu; college of Agriculture, Ikwo; caritas University.
Agriculture: Because of its location in the tropical rain forest belt, Enugu state is noted for the production of yam tubers, cassava tubers, palm produce and rice. There is an Agricultural policy in place, aimed at maximizing its Agricultural potentials.
MINERALS: Besides coal, the pre-eminent mineral resource in Enugu state, new mineral deposits have been discovered, namely : Limestone, Iron ore, crude oil natural gas and bauxite.
TOURISM: Enugu state has a rich pot pourri of cultural and natural tourist destinations in Addition to a vibrant tourism industry.
