Sat 25th September, 2004

BHB 4 v 1 Bangkok Blitz (friendly - rain stopped play 65mins).

The start of play saw BHB maintaining territorial advantage, but without looking likely to score. Against the run of play we conceded a soft goal following a moment of amnesia, but otherwise looked the better team. Our defense generally looked stable, and particularly strong in the middle but left back was a problem for us in the first half. Midfield were unable to get a commanding grip in the centre of the park with too much space to patrol. Forwards were many and generally fast. Our final ball was never quite what it could be and despite a few chances in the first half we only got our breakthrough when Peter neatly slotted in a penalty.

We changed ends and styles at half time to achieve greater control. Management brilliantly switched from 4-4-2 to 4-5-1 and also managed to add a little more bulk to the bench. Iain and David joined Peter in the centre of midfield and started putting together some great combinations and incisive passes which resulted in our pacy forwards getting plenty of action in front of goal.

The rainy season did what it was supposed to do after about 65 minutes of play and the skies opened. Our referee stopped the game as lightening was threatening safety and his new haircut. Overall a pleasing result on this auspicious occasion. - George
